JOB DESCRIPTION
The Saw Operator / Machinist will work to ensure precise sample preparation and component machining to meet customer specifications and laboratory standards. Position Summary Perform precision machining and cutting of metallurgical samples. Participate in internal audits as well as
ISO 17025
audits Principal Duties and Responsibilities The operation, regular maintenance, and upkeep of all equipment in a safe manner. This includes maintaining a tidy, organized, and clean work area. Proper labeling, identification and storage of all samples. Perform precision machining and cutting of metallurgical samples. Interpret technical requirements to ensure accuracy in sample production. Maintain a safe and efficient machining environment. Reading and interpreting work orders to determine specific sample requirements and processing steps. Reviewing and understanding part specifications to ensure compliance with customer and industry standards. Use vertical bandsaws, CNC lathes, CNC mills, and surface grinders to machine parts to exact requirements. Employing various hand tools for manual adjustments and finishing as needed. Use of overhead crane to move samples and equipment. Use of forklift for moving samples and equipment. Utilizing measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify that machined parts meet specified tolerances. Monitoring equipment performance and reporting any mechanical issues to management. Perform regular maintenance on all equipment. Ensuring the integrity of samples through proper handling and identification throughout the machining process. Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Must be experienced in use of CNC mills and lathemachining. Must be experienced in use of bandsaws. Must have ability to read and understand blueprints. Must have experience with use of measurementtools (calipers, micrometers, tapemeasure).
Required:
CNC programming experience. •
Preferred:
forklift certified (training available). Able to lift up to 50 lbs Able to stand for majority of shift. Ability to work in a loud, unconditioned manufacturing production environment. Must be able to hear clearly for horns and alarms
