In this role, you will be responsible for setting up CNC lathes to manufacture high-quality metal parts. Your expertise will ensure efficient production processes, uphold quality standards, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. This position offers an exciting opportunity for skilled machinists eager to work with advanced equipment in a fast-paced environment committed to excellence. Duties Set up CNC lathe machines, including installing tooling, fixtures, and workpieces according to engineering specifications and blueprints. Program CNC lathes using G-code and M-code commands Operate CNC machining tools with precision, ensuring adherence to specified dimensions and tolerances through the use of measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines. Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings to accurately produce parts while maintaining strict quality control standards with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). Troubleshoot machining issues to support machine uptime and quality production Perform routine machine maintenance, troubleshoot issues promptly, and optimize machining parameters for efficiency and quality. Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments, ensuring compliance with specifications before release for assembly or shipment. Plan tooling for upcoming jobs and ensure tooling is returned to its proper place after the completion of each job Train operators in safe machine operation and how to reliably check parts Experience Proven experience operating CNC lathes and programming using CNC G-code and M-code in a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of CNC machining tools, tooling selection, and machine setup procedures on lathe equipment. Proficiency in reading mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and understanding GD&T specifications. Familiarity with CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks or similar programs for part design interpretation and programming. Mechanical aptitude with an understanding of machining processes including milling, grinding, and manual machining techniques. Ability to use precision measurement tools like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines for quality control. Basic math skills necessary for calculating dimensions, tolerances, feed rates, and speeds in machining tasks. Knowledge of CNC machine operation software such as Fanuc controls or similar systems is preferred. Experience working within lean manufacturing environments focused on continuous improvement is a plus.
