Join Our Team at Bonacio Steel - Fabricators and Installers of Quality Steel Solutions We are a medium-sized fabrication shop specializing in light structural steel (up to 3 stories), miscellaneous, and ornamental steel. We're seeking an experienced CNC Operator to join our shop fabrication team. If you have a strong background in operating CNC steel fabrication equipment (such as beam drill lines, saw lines, plasma/plate processors, or angle lines) and a commitment to safety and quality, we want to hear from you.
Core Responsibilities:
Setup, program, and operate CNC machinery used in structural steel fabrication (e.g., CNC drill lines, band saws, plasma/plate processors, or angle processors). Read and interpret shop drawings, detail sheets, and
DSTV / CNC
files to ensure proper layout and machining parameters. Load and unload structural steel beams, channels, tubing, and plate onto machine tables using overhead hoists and forklifts. Perform quality control inspections, verifying dimensions, hole locations, bevels, and tolerances against shop fabrication drawings. Perform routine daily maintenance, tooling changes, clean-out, and troubleshooting on CNC equipment to maintain shop flow. Assist with general shop fabrication tasks as needed to support production schedules.
Requirements:
Minimum 3 years of experience operating CNC machinery in a structural steel or heavy metal fabrication environment. Ability to read and understand structural steel blueprints and fabrication drawings. Valid OSHA 10 card within 3 months of onboarding. Rigging and overhead crane/forklift operating experience. Must provide basic hand tools (measuring tape, square, calipers, center punch). Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Schedule:
Hours are typically Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:45 PM. Flexibility for occasional overtime and shift adjustments based on project needs.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
High School Diploma, GED, or vocational trade school training in machining/fabrication. Certification, if applicable, to operate material handling equipment (Overhead Crane, Forklift). Three years of steel fabrication experience in a shop environment.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with structural steel CNC software/controls (e.g., Peddinghaus, Voortman, Ficep, Hypertherm, or similar systems). Basic understanding of G-code or CNC controller adjustments. $21.00 - $28.00 per hour
