Must have prior experience. Work independently and as part of the team in a small family owned manufacturing facility located in Hamburg NY. Paid holidays, vacation and health insurance after probationary period. Hours of operation Mon-Fri 8:00am - 4:30pm. A CNC set-up and operator prepares, runs, and monitors computerized machines to cut, shape, and create precision parts.
Read blueprints and routers:
Study technical drawings, CAD files, and set-up sheets to understand part specifications and dimensions.
Select and install tooling:
Mount, align, and secure cutting tools, chucks, fixtures, and workpieces using hand tools and presetters.
Load and verify programs:
Upload the correct CNC program into the machine controller and set reference/zero points.
Test runs:
Execute dry runs or single-block tests to ensure the program and tool paths run safely and accurately. Machine Operation Responsibilities Load and unload materials: Secure raw materials, metal stock, or plastics into the machine or bar feeder.
Run production cycles:
Start, monitor, and stop machine cycles while keeping an eye on speeds, feeds, and machine sounds.
Perform quality inspections:
Measure finished parts using precision instruments like calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify they meet exact tolerances.
Make basic adjustments:
Enter offset changes or replace worn tool inserts to correct out-of-tolerance parts during a run.
Maintenance and Safety Routine upkeep:
Maintain proper coolant and lubrication levels, clear chips, and clean the work area.
Safety compliance:
Follow all OSHA regulations, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), and report equipment malfunctions immediately
