Responsibilities:
CNC Operation:
Set up, operate, and maintain CNC routers and other CNC woodworking machinery (e.g., panel saws, edgebanders) to cut, bore, and shape cabinet components according to design specifications. Load, unload, and secure materials (e.g., plywood, MDF, laminates) onto the CNC machine. Monitor machine performance during operation, making adjustments as necessary to ensure accuracy and quality. Perform basic troubleshooting of CNC machinery and tooling. Clean and maintain CNC equipment and work area.
Cabinet Building & Assembly:
Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and cut lists to understand cabinet specifications. Assemble pre-cut cabinet components using various methods (e.g., dado joints, dowels, screws, glue, fasteners). Perform precise measurements, cuts, and adjustments to ensure tight tolerances and proper fit. Install hardware such as hinges, drawer slides, and pulls. Apply laminates, veneers, or other finishes as required. Inspect finished cabinets for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications. Prepare cabinets for shipping or installation.
Quality Control & Safety:
Conduct in-process and final quality checks to ensure products meet company standards. Identify and report any defects, errors, or issues with materials or machinery. Adhere to all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly. Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Qualifications:
Proven experience (typically 3+ years) in commercial cabinet building. Demonstrated experience with CNC routing and other woodworking machinery operation. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, shop drawings, and cut lists. Strong understanding of various cabinet construction methods, materials, and hardware. Ability to accurately measure, cut, and assemble components. Familiarity with common woodworking tools, both hand and power, including saws, drills, sanders, and routers. Basic understanding of CNC programming (e.g., G-code) or experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., AutoCAD, Cabinet Vision, AlphaCAM) is a plus. Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical ability to lift heavy materials, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks. High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in woodworking or CNC operation is a significant advantage.
