In this role, you will be responsible for developing, testing, and optimizing CNC (Computer Numerical Control) programs to ensure precise and efficient machining of metal components. Your expertise in CNC programming, machine setup, and blueprint interpretation will be vital in maintaining high-quality standards and streamlining production processes. Responsibilities Develop and write CNC programs for various machines, including CNC lathes, milling machines, and 5-axis CNC machines, utilizing CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or AutoCAD. Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate machining operations aligned with engineering specifications. Set up CNC machining tools and equipment, including tooling selection, fixture installation, and calibration of measurement instruments such as bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Optimize machining processes through lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve efficiency while maintaining precision quality standards. Program CNC machines using Fanuc controls or other relevant control systems; troubleshoot programming issues to minimize downtime. Conduct precision measurements during machining processes using measurement tools to verify dimensions against GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards. Collaborate with engineering teams on CAD design modifications and provide feedback on manufacturability improvements. Experience Proven experience in CNC programming for lathe and milling machines, especially with 5-axis CNC machining centers. Strong knowledge of Fanuc control systems and experience with CAM software such as Mastercam or similar platforms. Familiarity with blueprint reading, geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T), and schematic interpretation for accurate manufacturing execution. Mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience setting up machining tools and fixtures in metal fabrication environments. Experience working within lean manufacturing environments to promote continuous improvement initiatives. Ability to interpret engineering CAD designs using SolidWorks or CATIA software for precise programming adjustments. Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM), measurement instruments like bore gauges or micrometers, and precision measurement techniques essential for quality control.
