You set tools, dial in workholding, and create an on-machine conversational program. As machining progresses, you measure, tweak offsets, restart the program mid-stream when needed, and finish with careful deburring and self-inspection. No two days look the same—most assignments are one-of-a-kind, and a production "run" rarely exceeds five pieces. Materials:
alloy steel, tool steel, and high-temperature alloys such as Inconel Size range: from approximately 1" OD x 20" length up to 10" OD x 25' length Core Responsibilities Set up the Fryer CNC lathe and perform on-machine conversational programming (Siemens) Execute machining operations, adjust tooling/offsets, and restart programs mid-cycle when required Deburr and perform in-process and final inspections of your own work Interpret and follow prints and detailed job instructions Assist on conventional equipment as needed: knee mills, horizontal boring mills, and manual lathes What Makes This Role Different This is not a push-button environment. Programs are rarely run start-to-finish without interaction. You'll continuously engage with the machine and the part—making adjustments that directly influence quality and outcomes.
