Job Description

Job Overview Professional Search Group OC is seeking a highly skilled and motivated CNC 5 Axis Mill Set-up Operator to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating advanced 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce precision metal components. Your expertise will ensure that complex parts are machined accurately and efficiently, adhering to strict quality standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment and contribute to innovative manufacturing projects in a fast-paced environment. Duties Prepare and set up CNC 5-axis milling machines, ensuring proper tooling, fixtures, and workholding devices are in place for optimal operation Develop and modify CNC programs using CAM software, incorporating G-code and M-code commands to achieve precise machining operations Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately, translating specifications into machine instructions Perform machine calibration, alignment, and tool changes to maintain high levels of precision during production runs Conduct quality inspections using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) to verify part dimensions Troubleshoot machining issues promptly, adjusting parameters or tooling as needed to maintain efficiency and quality Maintain detailed setup documentation, including tooling lists, calibration records, and process notes to ensure repeatability and continuous improvement Skills Proficiency in CNC G-code programming and M-code commands specific to 5-axis milling operations Strong knowledge of CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software such as SolidWorks and general blueprint reading skills for mechanical drawings Experience with CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) programming to generate efficient toolpaths for complex geometries Familiarity with machining tools, manual machining techniques, grinders, lathes, and hand tools used in metalworking processes Mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards for precision measurement in machining Skilled in the use of measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines for quality control Understanding of lean manufacturing principles to optimize setup times and reduce waste during production processes Ability to operate CNC milling machines specifically designed for 5-axis machining environments along with CNC lathe equipment when required Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, feeds, speeds, and tolerances necessary for precise machining operations Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes is a plus but not mandatory Join us if you're passionate about precision manufacturing and eager to bring your technical expertise into a collaborative environment where innovation drives success!
