Overview Join our dynamic manufacturing team as a CNC Set Up Lead, where you'll take charge of preparing and programming CNC machines to ensure precision and efficiency in metal machining processes. Your expertise in CNC programming, machine setup, and measurement will be instrumental in delivering top-tier components for diverse applications. Responsibilities Lead the setup and calibration of CNC milling machines and CNC lathes, ensuring all tools and fixtures are correctly installed for production runs. Develop, review, and optimize CNC programs using G-code and M-code, incorporating CAM software such as Mastercam or similar platforms. Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately to determine machining parameters and tooling requirements. Utilize precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and dial indicators to verify part dimensions during setup and inspection. Conduct manual machining tasks when necessary to prepare tooling or prototypes, ensuring seamless transition to CNC operations. Troubleshoot machine issues promptly, adjusting setups or programming as needed to maintain quality and efficiency. Collaborate with quality control teams to perform CNC quality inspections, ensuring parts meet GD&T specifications and customer standards. Maintain detailed documentation of machine setups, calibration records, and process adjustments for continuous improvement initiatives. Requirements Proven experience in CNC machining with a strong focus on setup leadership for CNC milling machines and CNC lathes. Proficiency in CNC G-code programming, M-code editing, and CAM software such as SolidWorks or CAD platforms for tooling design. Extensive knowledge of mechanical blueprint reading, GD&T standards, and mechanical blueprint interpretation. Skilled in operating machining tools including grinders, bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, hand tools, and manual machining equipment like lathes. Solid understanding of manufacturing processes related to metal machining, including milling, turning, grinding, and assembly procedures. Mechanical knowledge combined with the ability to interpret technical drawings accurately for precise setups. Ability to perform basic math calculations relevant to machining tolerances and measurements. Strong communication skills with the ability to lead a team effectively while adhering to safety protocols.
