CNC Machinist-Programmer - 1st
Shift Fulltime Hourly:
$25.00-$33.00
Job Summary:
The Machinist-Programmer is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC Machining Centers, CNC Lathes, Manual Lathes & Mills. Solid machine tool background and the ability to manufacture precision parts that meet engineering specifications and quality standards in a production environment. This role combines hands-on machining expertise with CNC programming skills to optimize production efficiency, reduce setup times, drive throughput and maintain product quality. Solid familiarity with set-ups and machine fixtures required. Key Responsibilities 1. Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment. 2. Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using machine controls, knowledge of CAM software is a plus 3. Monitor machine operations to ensure parts meet specifications 4. Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools 5. Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and CAD models. 6. Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and machining processes. 7. Perform first-article inspections (PPAP) and verify dimensional accuracy using precision measuring instruments. 8. Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and programming issues to minimize downtime. 9. Make program adjustments to improve cycle times, quality, and machine efficiency. 10. Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams on process improvements. 11. Maintain accurate setup sheets, tooling records, and program documentation. 12. Monitor machine performance and recommend improvements to manufacturing processes. 13. Train and support machine operators on setups and production requirements. 14. Maintain equipment and execute daily PM requirements 15. Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area (5S) Quality & Safety Effectively assess projects ensuring work can be done safely prior to performing the work Ensure workmanship meets customer quality expectations (align to the print) Participate in root cause analysis for recurring defects or failures Support continuous improvement initiatives Forklift and overhead crane experience Qualifications Required 1. High school diploma or GED required 2. 2+ years of CNC machining or metal fabrication experience 3. Experience with CNC controls 4. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T 5. Basic understanding of metal properties and machining processes Knowledge of machining defects and repair techniques Strong attention to detail, safety and quality Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Good communication skills and ability to interact with coworkers professionally Strong willingness to learn Preferred Experience in a production setting Familiarity with lean manufacturing process improvement
