MedFab Precision Solutions is looking for a Mill Department Lead who wants to program, set up and run the mill department, not just oversee it. You will write the Mastercam programs, prove out the setups on 5-axis and 3-axis machines, and set the daily priorities for the mill team, all on first shift at our medical device manufacturing facility in Lakeville, MN. If you are a programmer or supervisor who misses being close to the parts, this role puts you back at the machine with the authority to decide how the work gets made. What you'll do You split your day between the machines and the department, with programming and setup as the core of the job. Program in Mastercam Write and optimize Mastercam toolpaths for 3-axis and 5-axis milling, from 2D and 3D work through simultaneous 5-axis. Turn prints and models into efficient, repeatable programs for medical device components. Own program revisions, tooling choices and cycle-time improvements so good programs stay good. Set up and prove out machines Set up 5-axis mills and 3-axis vertical machining centers: fixtures, workholding, tooling, offsets and first-article runs. Run first pieces, tune the process, and hand off stable jobs to operators with clear setup sheets. Troubleshoot tooling, program and machine issues so the mills keep cutting. Manage the mill department Plan and schedule the mill workload with production control, and set daily priorities for the team. Coach and train machinists and operators, and lead by showing the setup, not just describing it. Keep quality, safety and on-time delivery on track, working closely with inspection and engineering.

Drive continuous improvement:

fixture ideas, tooling standardization, and cleaner handoffs between setup and production. The equipment you'll run The mill department runs machines that range from standard 3-axis verticals to modern 5-axis equipment you can program aggressively. Mastercam with Cloud NC AI add-in is the department's CAM platform, and you will have a real voice in fixturing, tooling and how new jobs are launched. What you bring Required Hands-on CNC milling experience, with Mastercam programming of your own jobs from print to finished part. Proven setup skills on 5-axis and 3-axis vertical machining centers, including fixturing and first-article proveout. Experience with Haas controls; Matsuura experience is a strong plus. Blueprint reading, GD&T and precision inspection skills. Experience leading, training or supervising machinists, formally or as the go-to lead on the floor. Availability for first shift. Nice to have Medical device, aerospace or other regulated precision manufacturing experience. Simultaneous 5-axis programming experience.
