Job Description
CNC Programmer 105 Corporate Center Drive, Mooresville, NC 28117 $28.85 - $33.65 an hour - Full-time $28.85 - $33.65 an hour - Full-time Job Summary We are seeking a CNC Programmer to join our "Solutions Team" at our MTEC (Machining Technology and Education Center) facility in Mooresville, NC. Ideal candidates will possess a mechanical aptitude, strong willingness to learn, ability to trouble shoot and problem solve, and a desire to continuously develop their skillset. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, testing, and optimizing CNC programs that will be used to justify program and tooling changes for new and existing processes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced machining technologies in a controlled machine lab environment. Duties Develop and write CNC programs for various machines such as CNC milling machines and CNC lathes using both traditional G-Code (long hand) and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software. Program, set up and operate CNC machines (both mills and lathes) Attend CAM training classes to build a solid foundation and stay up-to-date on new releases. Use of CAD (Computer-Aided Design) tools like AutoCAD and SolidWorks to create demo workpieces, test workpieces, and tooling concepts/layouts. Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, blueprints, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications to ensure viability. Perform toolpath verification, simulation, and troubleshooting to prevent errors during production runs. Utilize measurement gauges such as calipers, bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to inspect parts for adherence to specifications. Collaborate with MMUS Sales personnel to plan, execute and document test cuts on a wide array of features and materials for customers. Maintain detailed documentation of programs, setups, adjustments, and test cut results to justify tooling and program changes. Assist with internal/external training as needed. Requirements Self-starter with a strong desire and willingness to learn Ability to program CNC milling machines and CNC lathes across multiple control types (Okuma OSP, Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Siemens 840D) Familiarity with CAM systems such as Mastercam, ESPRIT, Hypermill, Siemens NX and others. Familiarity with CAD systems such as Solidworks, Creo (ProE), Fusion360, Siemens NX Solid understanding of blueprint reading, schematics, GD&T standards, geometry, and mechanical drawings Knowledge of manufacturing processes including tooling selection, machining techniques, and gauging instruments like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines Mechanical aptitude with the ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings accurately Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in high-precision environments Join us in shaping the future of cutting tools through innovative CNC programming!
