Duties Develop and write CNC programs for milling machines, lathes, and other machining centers using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software such as Solidcam. Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure precise manufacturing specifications are met. Set up CNC machines by selecting appropriate tooling, fixtures, and calibration tools like bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Optimize machining processes through lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste, improve cycle times, and enhance productivity. Monitor machine operations during production runs to identify issues related to tooling, geometry, or machine performance; make real-time adjustments as needed. Conduct quality inspections using precision measuring instruments such as dial indicators and schematics to verify dimensions and tolerances according to GD&T standards. Maintain detailed documentation of programs, setups, tooling configurations, and process improvements for continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate with design engineers using CAD software like SolidWorks or CATIA to review designs and suggest manufacturability improvements. Troubleshoot electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes when applicable to ensure high-precision component fabrication. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and industry standards during all machining activities. Requirements Proven experience programming CNC milling machines and CNC lathes with a strong understanding of Fanuc controls or similar systems. Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks for designing parts and fixtures. Hands-on experience with CAM programming tools for creating efficient toolpaths aligned with lean manufacturing principles. Deep knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), schematics, and technical drawings. Familiarity with precision measuring instruments including bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and bore gauges. Mechanical knowledge related to tooling selection, geometry calculations, machining parameters, and troubleshooting machine issues. Ability to interpret schematics and electrical diagrams relevant to machine setup and maintenance. Strong math skills for calculations involving dimensions, tolerances, feeds & speeds. Knowledge of manufacturing best practices with an emphasis on quality control and continuous improvement methodologies such as lean manufacturing. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with attention to detail in a fast-paced production environment.
