MANUFACTURING CNC PROGRAMMER DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
- Develop cost effective manufacturing process for new part numbers, as defined by customer specifications.
- Coordinate with other staff in the development of processes requiring interdepartmental manufacturing processes, planning, and job travelers.
- Develop process drawings, and In Process (IP) features required to manufacture parts efficiently, and effectively.
- Develop CNC setup sheets and write CNC programs required to make tools, fixtures, and gages.
- Work with department staff to monitor existing manufacturing processes and modify to enhance efficiency.
- Review input from manufacturing that may improve process.
- Identify, and submit design change requests to customers, in coordination with Quality.
- Provide support and guidance to inspection department and manufacturing floor.
- Provide technical support to materials and estimating group.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the Manager.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Ability to read and interpret purchase order requirements, drawings, and specifications.
- Above average knowledge of Geometry, and ability to generate CAD/CAM files required to develop manufacturing processes and CNC programs.
- Thorough understanding of Geometric Dimensions & Tolerance standards (GD&T).
- Knowledge of systems utilized to perform job tasks, concurrent training to keep abreast of upgrades and additions to system capabilities.
- Specific knowledge of work instructions applicable to engineering and manufacturing.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to allow for professional written, and verbal interaction between all levels of management, and customer technical contacts.
- Responsible for safe operation of all equipment for which programs are developed.
- Responsible for proper handling and control of paperwork, procedures, and material to properly manufacture aerospace product.
- Maintain work areas neat and clean.
- Responsible for proper handling of raw material and manufactured product.
- May require moderate lifting (50 lbs.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- 5 years CNC Programming experience is desired.
- High school graduate preferred.
- 5 axis machining and programming experience is highly desired.
