This position is primarily responsible for programming and operating CNC machining centers in addition to operating all machine shop equipment used in the manufacture of gapped and custom magnetic products including the setup and qualification run for a particular job. •

Job Description:
Essential Duties:
Programs, sets up and operates CNC machining centers to manufacture magnetic cores to meet customer specifications as specified on manufacturing instructions, (MI's). Makes adjustments to the program and/or setup to meet required specifications as required. Sets up and operates various surface grinding equipment to machine magnetic materials. Sets up and operates surface grinders for E-Core and toroid gapping. Programs, sets up and operates Robo-Gappers for center-post gapping. General working knowledge of the KO Lee computer console including programming. Inspects finished product to ensure specifications for a particular operation are met. Reads and understands all manufacturing instructions (MI's), drawings and quality requirements. Can perform all setups required to meet manufacturing instructions with minimal assistance from the group leader or other personnel including the CNC machining centers. Operates the CNC machining centers for the manufacture of various magnetic cores. Ability to lap or polish product to a required surface finish. Notify group leader and/or general foreman of problems with equipment and/or product. Sets up and installs grinding wheels as part of a machine setup. Inspect product using measuring devices such as micrometer, caliper optical comparator and/or a Unitron microscope. Follow all safety, quality and departmental procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot simple problems that arise in the day-to-day machining environment. Dresses wheels and chucks and sets up associated tooling. May assist with various preventative maintenance functions. Perform various assembly operations using epoxies and/or glues and associated clamping devices. Provide input to the group leader and/or general foreman on machine process improvements related to efficiency and/or quality. Oversee the performance of other employees engaged in the operation of the CNC machining centers and other work centers and provide direction as required. Perform other duties as assigned in order to meet organizational and customer objectives and business conditions. Qualifications:
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
General understanding of mechanical equipment. Good hand-eye coordination. Ability to use small hand tools. Ability to use measuring devices such as micrometer and calipers. Ability to use various optical inspection and measuring devices. Good working knowledge of basic math. General working knowledge of grinding equipment used in the manufacture of magnetic cores including surface grinders, gapping equipment, KO Lee machining centers and CNC machining centers. Ability to use Espirit or Autocad software or other similar applications. Good working knowledge of CNC G-Code programming language. (Other language knowledge may be considered.)
Preferred Training, Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED. Successful completion of
BOCES CNC
machining and programming course. A minimum of six (6) years machining experience, at least four (4) of which is machining magnetic or other ceramic materials and at least one (1) of which is operating a CNC machining center used to manufacture magnetic cores. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of education requirements.
