Senior CNC Programmer - Multi-Axis Mill & Lathe (Job Shop Environment)

1st shift About the Role We are a fast-paced precision machining job shop specializing in complex, tight-tolerance components. We are seeking a Senior CNC Programmer with advanced Mastercam and SolidWorks experience and expert knowledge of multi-axis CNC mills and lathes. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys part variety, solving complex machining challenges, and taking ownership of parts from print review through prove-out and production release. Responsibilities
  • Program complex parts using Mastercam and Smartcam for CNC mills and lathes
  • Work directly from SolidWorks models and customer prints
  • Develop multi-axis toolpaths (4-axis, 5-axis, mill-turn)
  • Create machining processes for prototype and low-volume production work
  • Select tooling, workholding, and cutting strategies
  • Perform prove-outs and optimize programs on the shop floor
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and program issues
  • Support setup machinists with setup sheets and tooling documentation
  • Mentor machinists when needed
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams Requirements
  • 8+ years CNC programming experience (job shop experience strongly preferred)
  • Expert Mastercam programming ability
  • Strong SolidWorks experience (model navigation, feature recognition, design intent)
  • Extensive multi-axis programming experience on mills and lathes
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge
  • Experience with tight tolerance machining
  • Experience programming complex thread forms (ACME, buttress, custom threads)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
  • Post processor editing experience
  • Macro or parametric programming knowledge
  • Experience assisting with quoting or manufacturability reviews
