Job Overview:
The CNC Machinist is a full programmer/operator position responsible for programming via 3d modeling software, setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines, as well as performing precision work on manual mills and lathes. This role supports production of high-quality metal and plastic components by interpreting prints, holding tight tolerances, and ensuring efficient, safe machining practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Program CNC machine via cad/3D modeling software Set up and operate CNC machines (mills and/or lathes) to produce parts per specifications Perform basic edits and offsets on CNC programs at the machine Operate manual mills and lathes to produce parts per specification Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for various materials Measure and inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision tools Maintain tight tolerances and ensure parts meet quality standards Perform routine machine maintenance and keep equipment in good working order Deburr, clean, and finish parts as needed Identify and troubleshoot machining or quality issues Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and other team members to improve processes and efficiency
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; trade school or technical training preferred 4+ years of machining experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment Experience programming and operating CNC mills and/or lathes Experience with manual machining equipment (mills, lathes, drill presses) Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T Strong understanding of machining fundamentals (tooling, speeds/feeds, materials) Strong knowledge of CNC controls (Fanuc, Haas, or similar) Ability to use precision measuring instruments accurately Strong attention to detail and quality
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed Frequent use of hands for tools and controls Exposure to typical shop conditions (noise, metal shavings, coolant, etc.). •Pay based on verifiable years of experience and skill level.
