CNC Programmer

Job Description

ArcelorMittal Tubular Products (AMTP) in Shelby, Ohio produces welded and seamless precision tubes in a wide spectrum of carbon and alloy grades and offers one of the most extensive size ranges in the world. Our tubular products serve a variety of markets including automotive, industrial and construction equipment, hydraulic cylinders, agricultural equipment, and mineral mining equipment.
Your role:
The CNC Programmer will report to our Superintendent of Maintenance and will be responsible for programming and optimizing multiple CNC machines to produce high-precision components in the Shelby plants. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of machining processes, CAD/CAM software proficiency, and the ability to translate detailed drawings into efficient machining programs. Main tasks for the
CNC Programmer:
  • Develop new CNC programs using CAM software such as Mastercam, GibbsCAM, or similar
  • Develop Set up sheets to make set up of the machine more efficient
  • Use of macros in a program to make the programming of "family" parts faster and more efficient
  • Optimize CNC programs to increase productivity, minimize cycle times, and ensure quality is met.
  • Perform simulations to validate machining programs and identify potential issues such as long cycle times or tool clearance issues.
  • Collaborate with machinists, planners, engineers, and maintenance supervisors to troubleshoot problems and implement process improvements.
  • Maintain documentation of machining processes, print revisions, tooling changes, and setup instructions.
What we are looking for:
  • Three years' experience as a CNC Machining Programmer or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software, such as Mastercam, fusion 360, GibbsCAM, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of machining procedures, including milling, turning, drilling, tapping, and grinding.
  • Ability to interpret detailed drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Knowledge of G and M code programming language and CNC machine operation.
  • Knowledge of Haas machines is a plus.
  • Experience with 4 axis machining centers and advanced machining procedures preferred.
  • Effective communication skills, ability to problem solve and work well with others in a team environment.
  • Candidate must possess the physical ability to climb stairs, bend, stoop and move throughout the plant as needed, sit for long periods of time, perform repetitive movements, occasionally lift up to 30 pounds and possess the ability to hear and speak clearly in person and over the phone.
