Division Corporate Shift First Shift Job Summary Job Summary Applies advanced knowledge of principles, theories, concepts and industry practices and standards to plan and write computer numerical control (CNC) programs to define contour path machining of metal and composite parts on automatic machine tools. Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity that require judgment and ingenuity referring to policies and procedures for guidance. Modifies procedures and identifies new approaches relative to planning and writing CNC programs for automatic machine tools. Work is reviewed for accuracy and adequacy. Analyzes drawings (electronic and hard copy media), sketches, and design data of parts to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, and machine speeds and feed rates. Determines reference points and direction of machine cutting paths. Computes angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures, and outlines sequence of operations required to machine part. Prepares geometric layout using computer-assisted drafting software to show location of reference points and direction of cutting paths. Writes instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machine. Able to proof read and analyze machine code and make amendments to the code as necessary thus eliminating code instruction errors and / or omissions. Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment. Minimum Qualifications Education Requirements Minimum High School or GED. If applicable, a combination of experience and training may be substituted for the education requirement. Experience Requirements 3-6 year(s) Skills and Competencies Programming computer numerically controlled machines using common NC machine programming languages such as APT. Communicate effectively using electronic media and in written and verbal forms. Makes telephone and direct personal contact with internal and external personnel and makes formal presentations to small or large groups. Competent in the use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel and operate standard office equipment. Physical Requirements Physical Requirements Must be able to work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week, if required. Additionally, those who work at NORDAM Repair Division must be able to ascend and descend stairs. Demand

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Supervision Supervision Works under very general supervision. Sound judgment, completeness and accuracy are expected.
