Uvalde Position Overview:

CNC Programmer/Operator is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating

CNC mills, lathes, and other machines as required. Work in conjunction with other

operators and engineering team to make prototypes and production parts. This role

requires a strong understanding of Drawings, Specifications, Dimensions, Tolerances

and correct use of precision measuring instruments. CNC programming experience is

required, with awareness to manufacturing methods, sequence of operations, setups,

tooling and use of tools. Understanding quality control is fundamental to this position.

Key Responsibilities

Programming and Setup:

Develop and optimize CNC programs using CAD/CAM software based on

engineering drawings and specifications (3 & 4 axis).

Assist in development of fixture plates and holding fixtures for the parts produced

Set up and configure CNC machines, including tooling selection, machine

calibration, and fixture setup.

Test programs for accuracy and troubleshoot issues related to machine

programming and operations.

Machine Operation:

Serve as backup machinist and perform machinist work when needed

Operate CNC mills, lathes, and other machinery to fabricate parts to precise

dimensions.

Monitor machine operations and adjust as necessary to ensure part quality and

adherence to specifications.

Perform manual machining tasks as required, using conventional lathes, mills,

and grinders.

Quality Control:

Inspect manufactured parts for defects, dimensional accuracy, and adherence to

the tolerances provided in the drawings using precision measuring instruments.

Work with quality assurance team and engineering to resolve production issues

and improve manufacturing processes.

Maintenance and Safety:

Perform routine maintenance on machines, tools, and equipment to ensure

optimal performance.

o Make sure the tools used are sharp and replaced when necessary.

o Keep up with the consumable fluids required for the CNC operations

(replenish coolant and grease as required) Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work

environment.

Follow safety protocols and wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE).

Continuous Improvement:

Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance productivity,

efficiency, and part quality.

Stay updated on advancements in CNC machining, programming techniques,

and tooling technologies.

Haas VF6

Haas VF2

Blue Elephant (Fanuc)

Skills and Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in machining

or a related field preferred.

Minimum of 3 years experience in CNC Programming.

Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion, etc.).

Must be familiar with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

Edit G-code, and M-code from CNC controller

Understanding of work holding, and fixtures, speeds and feeds of machines, and

tool selection.

Strong understanding of blueprint reading, DG&T, and precision measurement

tools.

Ability to diagnose and troubleshot machining issues and recommend corrective

actions.

Strong focus on accuracy, precision, and quality control to meet tight tolerances.

Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineers, production team,

and quality assurance.

Basic math skills. 3 Basic mechanical aptitude.

Ability to follow instructions and work independently.

Ability to use and read a measuring tape (fractions and decimals)

Attention to detail and a commitment to safety.

Physical ability to lift and move material.

Must be a team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Work Environment:

Shop setting with moderate movement.

Exposure to noise, heat, and industrial materials.

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift 50lbs.

Sitting/standing/stooping/moving around for extended periods of time.

Operating hours

o Monday - Thursday, 7AM to 6PM

o May be requested to work unscheduled overtime.
