CNC Machinist Reports to: Production Support Specialist (PSS)

Overview:

CNC machinist is responsible for reading prints, running the CNC efficiently, basic setups, basic paperwork for inspection and job traceability. The core priority of this position is to operate the CNC at its maximum efficiency meeting quality standards.

Job Duties CNC Programming:

They write or modify the code that controls the CNC machine's movements, toolpath, and machining processes. This code is often written in G-code or other specific CNC programming languages. Know's GD&T Codes. Programs without assistance. CNC machinist reads and understands the Job Traveler and performing to customer specifications, has extensive knowledge of different threading.

Machine Setup:

CNC machinist set up and prepare the CNC machine for operation, including securing workpieces, loading tooling, and ensuring the machine is calibrated and ready for production.

Operation:

They operate the CNC machine, monitoring the process to ensure that it runs smoothly and maximizes efficiency by making any necessary adjustments during the machining process. Machinists work comfortably with high tolerances. Can work efficiently on two machines (Mill/Lathe or Manual), Expedites order to the next process in the job traveler.

Quality Control:

CNC Machinist is responsible for quality control, inspecting finished parts to ensure they meet the required specifications, and filling out inspection documents.

Maintenance:

They perform routine/daily maintenance and troubleshooting tasks on the CNC machine to keep it in good working condition.

Tool Changes:

They change and maintain cutting tools and toolholders as needed to ensure efficient and precise machining.

Material Handling:

CNC Machinist oversees raw materials, loads them into the machine, and removes finished parts, as necessary. Deburr and polish parts, knows diverse types of material and its effects on machines.

Safety Compliance:

Ensuring that safety protocols and procedures are followed to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace.

Problem Solving:

They troubleshoot issues that may arise during the machining process, such as tool wear, program errors, or machine malfunctions. Works efficiently and brings upper management new ideas if he/she sees room for improvement.

Documentation:

Keeping records of production runs, machine settings, and quality control, Marks parts to maintain traceability

Qualifications:

• Has its own tools, more than is required.
• Extensive knowledge in how to read Drawings.
• Knows machine tooling and geometrics.
• Excels in Math, Geometry, and Geometrics
• Excels in measurements (Metrology)
• Able to work in a team and have a good relationship with co- workers.
• Attention to detail, especially documentation.
• Responsible, organized, dependable, and punctual.
