A CNC Programmer programs computer-controlled equipment used to cut wood, plastic, or metal according to precise measurements, or equipment used for different manufacturing processes.
We are seeking an experienced CAD Drafter/CNC Nester Programmer to join our fabrication team. A successful individual will be responsible for creating and modifying part drawings, preparing CNC cutting programs, and optimizing material utilization through efficient nesting for CNC burn tables. This is a full-time position that works onsite daily at our facility in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Relocation or citizen sponsorship is not available. Pay is based on relevant experience, qualifications, and education.
Key Responsibilities:
Create and revise 2D part drawings from customer prints, sketches, and engineering specifications. Generate CNC programs for plasma, oxy-fuel, laser, or other CNC cutting equipment. Perform nesting of parts to maximize material yield and minimize scrap. Review drawings and specifications to ensure manufacturing accuracy. Maintain drawing revisions and document control procedures. Collaborate with production team members to troubleshoot programming and fabrication issues. Verify cut files and machine settings before release to production. Assist with process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce production costs. Provide technical support to production and quality departments as needed. Manage plate inventory and determine and submit plate material order requests. Ensure compliance with company safety and quality standards. Work with a high degree of accuracy and have a strong degree of quality consciousness.
Qualifications:
Three years of experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD, DraftSight, SolidWorks, or similar required. Three years experience programming and nesting CNC burn tables required. Experience with nesting software such as SigmaNEST, ProNest, FastCAM, or similar strongly preferred. Knowledge of plasma, laser, or oxy-fuel cutting processes preferred. Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints. Must have a strong understanding of fabrication processes and steel plate manufacturing. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are required. Must have strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Experience managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines required. Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, or related field preferred - in lieu of degree may consider 5+ years of progressive relevant experience. Experience in a steel fabrication or manufacturing environment strongly preferred. Experience managing materials is preferred. Professional communication and teamwork skills required.
