We are seeking a talented and dedicated Seasonal Scenic Painter with at least two years of experience in the themed entertainment or experiential industry. The ideal candidate will contribute to creating immersive environments by applying their expertise in scenic painting, faux finishing, and surface preparation. This role involves working on various projects, including murals, 3D objects, and detailed finishes, supporting our team during peak seasons to deliver high-quality scenic elements for our attractions and events.
Responsibilities:
Apply scenic painting techniques across multiple surface materials such as wood, metal, plastic, and foam. Execute faux finishing skills including aging, distressing, wood grain texturing, and gradient effects using spray guns or airbrushes. Prepare surfaces thoroughly using sanding, bonding agents, spackle, and primers to ensure smooth finishes. Use a variety of tools including brushes, rollers, spray equipment, sanders, and other power tools to complete assigned tasks. Match colors accurately to client specifications or Pantone references through mixing and tinting paints. Assist in maintaining the paint shop environment by cleaning equipment, changing filters, organizing supplies, and disposing of waste properly. Support onsite installation and touch-up work as needed for scenic elements. Sculpt foam blocks for creating 3D objects such as trees or logos. Create murals on various scales and perform sign painting or gold leaf application when required. Follow safety procedures diligently while working with paints, chemicals, and equipment. Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and ensure project deadlines are met. Maintain inventory levels of supplies and track project-related materials.
Qualifications:
Minimum of two years of scenic painting experience within themed entertainment or related experiential industries. Proven ability to execute advanced faux finishing techniques and surface preparations. Skilled in using spray guns, airbrushes, brushes, rollers, sanders, and other painting tools. Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality craftsmanship. Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, or overtime as needed during peak seasons. Valid driver's license preferred; ability to operate shop machinery safely required. Good physical stamina for lifting up to 50 lbs regularly and working on scaffolding or ladders. Excellent communication skills and ability to follow detailed instructions. Knowledge of safety standards related to scenic painting and chemical handling.
