JOB SUMMARY

Our client is seeking a Painter / Prepper to support aircraft production and finishing operations. This position is responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing aircraft and aircraft components in accordance with manufacturing specifications, quality standards, and FAA-approved procedures.

The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, experience with surface preparation and paint application techniques, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare aircraft and aircraft components for paint through sanding, masking, cleaning, filling, and surface preparation processes.
  • Mix primers, paints, and coatings in accordance with manufacturer specifications and work instructions.
  • Apply primers, topcoats, and specialty finishes using spray equipment and approved application methods.
  • Inspect painted surfaces and identify defects including runs, sags, fisheyes, orange peel, solvent pops, pinholes, dry spray, adhesion issues, and other paint imperfections.
  • Perform touch-up, repair, polishing, and finishing work as required.
  • Operate spray booths, HVLP spray guns, compressors, mixing equipment, and related paint shop tools.
  • Read and interpret work instructions, technical drawings, and blueprints.
  • Maintain compliance with company quality standards, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Properly utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all environmental, health, and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area while supporting production schedules and team objectives.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum of 18 months of painting, aircraft painting, automotive painting, aerospace finishing, manufacturing, or related experience required.
  • Experience with sanding, masking, surface preparation, painting, and finishing processes.
  • Ability to safely operate spray equipment and related paint shop tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, drawings, and blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Basic math skills including measurements, mixing ratios, and material calculations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Aircraft painting experience.
  • Aerospace or aviation manufacturing experience.
  • Automotive, marine, industrial, or composite painting experience.
  • Experience working with HVLP spray systems and paint mixing equipment.
  • Military aviation or maintenance background.
  • Familiarity with FAA-regulated environments.
