About Us:
Vulcan Garage is a fleet-focused repair and maintenance shop serving commercial clients throughout the Evansville area. Our customers include operators of Sprinter vans (Ford, RAM, Mercedes) and electric vehicles such as Rivian. We are a highly entrepreneurial, business-to-business operation, constantly expanding our expertise in both traditional and electric vehicle service. As we grow, we're building a team of skilled technicians who are passionate about their craft and eager to master the next generation of fleet technologies. We're seeking a skilled Automotive Paint and Body Technician to join our team of fleet specialists. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with experience in collision repair, refinishing, and restoration for light-duty commercial vehicles. You'll play a key role in ensuring our customers' vehicles are not only mechanically sound but also meet high cosmetic and safety standards after repairs. This position offers the opportunity to work on modern fleet vehicles, including electric vans and next-generation platforms, with ongoing training and growth potential as Vulcan Garage expands its EV capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform collision and body repairs on light-duty and fleet vehicles, including aluminum and composite panels Conduct paint prep, priming, color matching, and refinishing to OEM or fleet specifications Diagnose and repair frame, structural, and cosmetic damage using proper equipment and safety procedures Collaborate with service and mechanical teams to ensure seamless repair coordination Document repair work, parts used, and refinishing materials in the work order management system, AutoLeap Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and shop safety standards Participate in ongoing training to stay current with new materials, coatings, and repair techniques Contribute to team knowledge sharing and process improvement as the shop expands its paint and body capabilities
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of hands-on experience in automotive paint and body repair (collision, fleet, or dealership setting) Proficiency with refinishing systems Strong understanding of surface prep, blending, and color-matching techniques Ability to perform light frame and panel repair using appropriate tools and procedures Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Own a professional set of tools suitable for the position High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or OEM training preferred
Preferred Attributes:
Experience working on commercial fleet vehicles Familiarity with fleet management software (e.g., Fleetio, AutoLeap) Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills Initiative, reliability, and a drive for continuous improvement
