Monday through Friday Start time: 6:00 AM Typical finish time: approximately 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM Occasional overtime is required based on production needs. Limited Saturday work may be required based on production demands. Candidates must be flexible with their end time since production requirements may determine when the workday is completed. A Confidential Company in Archdale, NC is seeking an experienced Powder Coater for a first shift Contract to Hire opportunity in a fast paced metal fabrication and manufacturing environment. The Powder Coater is responsible for preparing and coating fabricated metal parts to achieve a consistent, durable, and high quality finish. This is a hands on production position involving the complete powder coating process, including part preparation, hanging, masking, powder application, color changes, curing support, finish inspection, equipment cleaning, and material handling. This is NOT a training opportunity. Only candidates with relevant powder coating, industrial coating, or closely related metal finishing experience will be considered.

Primary responsibilities include:

Set up and operate powder coating guns, booths, and related equipment Apply powder evenly and consistently to fabricated metal parts according to work orders and specifications Verify that parts are properly cleaned and prepared before coating Mask, plug, protect, and prepare areas that should not receive powder Load, hang, space, remove, and safely handle fabricated metal parts throughout the coating process Assist with powder color changes and equipment setup Prevent cross contamination between different powder colors Support the curing process and overall production flow Inspect coated parts for proper color, coverage, appearance, adhesion, and overall finish quality Identify coating defects and make or communicate necessary process adjustments Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of powder guns, booths, hoses, filters, racks, and related equipment Follow work orders, production instructions, specifications, and quality requirements Maintain required records related to jobs, colors, production output, and quality checks Work closely with production, quality, and supervisory personnel to resolve coating and finish issues Maintain a clean, organized, and safe powder coating department Follow all required safety procedures and PPE requirements Assist other production departments and work centers when powder coating workloads are reduced

Requirements:

Previous hands on powder coating experience is strongly preferred Previous industrial painting, metal finishing, or manufacturing and fabrication experience may be considered when directly relevant to the work Experience working with fabricated metal parts Familiarity with powder application and powder coating equipment Experience with part preparation, masking, plugging, and hanging Familiarity with powder color changes and preventing cross contamination Knowledge of curing and finish inspection processes Ability to identify coating defects and inconsistencies in color, coverage, appearance, adhesion, and overall finish quality Mechanical aptitude with the ability to make basic equipment adjustments and recognize application or equipment issues Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to read and follow work orders and production instructions Basic reading, communication, and math skills Dependable attendance and punctuality Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive hands on production tasks Ability to safely lift, move, hang, and handle fabricated metal parts Must be comfortable working in a non climate controlled manufacturing environment where temperatures may exceed 100°F during hot conditions or fall below 20°F during cold conditions Must be able and willing to wear required personal protective equipment Must be available for occasional overtime and limited Saturday work based on production needs No entry level or training candidates will be considered. Candidates must have relevant hands on experience that demonstrates their ability to work effectively in an industrial powder coating or metal finishing environment.
