ABOUT THE POSITION

Carolina Finishing is seeking an experienced Industrial Wet Painter who can consistently produce high-quality work on fabricated metal parts and industrial equipment. This is not an entry-level position. We need someone who understands industrial coating systems, takes ownership of finished quality, and can work productively without needing constant supervision. The right candidate will be experienced with epoxy primers, urethane topcoats, and other industrial liquid coatings. Automotive refinishing experience may be considered if the candidate also has strong knowledge of coating preparation, mixing, spray application, film thickness, and defect prevention.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Review job travelers, drawings, specifications, and coating requirements before beginning work Confirm the correct parts, quantities, colors, primers, topcoats, and coating systems Verify that parts are properly prepared, clean, dry, masked, and ready for coating Mix, reduce, catalyze, strain, and manage coatings according to manufacturer requirements Apply industrial primers and topcoats using appropriate spray equipment and techniques Apply epoxy, urethane, enamel, CARC, and other specified coating systems Maintain proper coverage, appearance, wet-film thickness, dry-film thickness, flash time, and recoat windows Use wet-film and dry-film thickness gauges when required Prevent runs, sags, dry spray, contamination, pinholes, missed areas, excessive buildup, and other coating defects Perform a complete inspection under adequate lighting, including mandatory flashlight inspection, before coated parts are removed from the painting area Identify and correct problems before parts move to the next operation Clean and maintain spray guns, pumps, hoses, pressure pots, booths, and related painting equipment Accurately record coating batches, mixing information, inspection results, and other required production information Maintain an organized, clean, and safe painting area Support masking, hanging, material handling, and other production work when needed Immediately report safety, quality, equipment, material, or scheduling concerns to the Production Manager

DAILY AND WEEKLY EXPECTATIONS

Be at the assigned work area and ready to begin productive work at 7:00 AM Follow the production priorities and job sequence established by the Production Manager Complete assigned work with the required quality and within expected production times Protect customer parts throughout handling, coating, curing, inspection, and staging Do not knowingly allow defective or incomplete work to move forward Receive approval from the Production Manager before beginning end-of-day cleanup to confirm that all parts required for the day's production are complete Receive approval from the Production Manager before beginning scheduled weekly deep cleaning of booths and painting equipment to confirm that required weekly production is complete

QUALIFICATIONS

Previous industrial wet-painting experience is required Experience applying epoxy primers and urethane topcoats is strongly preferred Experience painting fabricated steel, aluminum, castings, weldments, or industrial equipment Ability to mix and apply multi-component coating systems accurately Working knowledge of coating ratios, pot life, flash time, recoat windows, and cure requirements Ability to recognize and prevent common coating defects Ability to read work instructions, job travelers, drawings, and coating specifications Ability to use measuring and inspection equipment Strong attention to detail and commitment to first-pass quality Dependable attendance and punctuality Ability to work independently while following production priorities and established processes Willingness to assist with other production responsibilities when required Cerakote application experience is a plus Automotive painting or refinishing experience is a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to stand and work on your feet for most of the shift Ability to bend, reach, climb, and work around large industrial parts Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection Ability to lift and handle materials safely Ability to work in an industrial production environment with paint fumes, noise, dust, and temperature changes

We are looking for a painter who takes pride in the finished product—not someone who simply gets color onto the part.
