Position Summary The Paint Line Hanger is responsible for loading, hanging, and unloading sheet metal parts on the paint line conveyor system to ensure parts receive consistent and complete coating coverage. This is a physically active, fast-paced position that directly impacts finish quality and production throughput. The ideal candidate works efficiently, handles parts carefully to prevent damage, and maintains a consistent production flow while paying close attention to detail. Key Responsibilities Hang fabricated sheet metal parts on conveyor hooks or fixtures for processing through the powder coat or paint system. Review job travelers to identify masking, orientation, hang-point, and special handling requirements before racking parts. Apply masking tape or plugs to surfaces, holes, and threads that must be protected from coating. Unload finished parts from the conveyor after curing and inspect for coating coverage, runs, drips, and other visible defects. Identify, segregate, and tag non-conforming parts for rework or further disposition. Stage completed parts in designated areas for assembly, shipping, or inspection. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Follow all safety procedures and required PPE guidelines, including those related to chemical exposure and curing oven heat. Assist other team members with production tasks as needed. What You Bring Previous experience in a paint line, powder coating, manufacturing, or finishing environment is preferred but not required—training is provided. Ability to work at a consistent pace while meeting conveyor line production requirements. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify coating defects. Ability to understand and follow basic masking requirements, prints, and job travelers. Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately. Willingness to work as part of a team and contribute to department production goals. Physical Requirements Ability to safely lift and handle parts or materials weighing up to 40 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift. Ability to stand and move throughout the production area for most of the workday. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform other movements required in a manufacturing environment. Ability to perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements throughout the shift. Ability to safely and independently operate a pallet jack when required. Ability to comply with respirator fit-testing requirements and wear respiratory PPE when required. Ability to work safely around curing ovens and hot fixtures. Heat-resistant PPE is provided. Ability to assist coworkers with reasonable production-related tasks as needed. Work Environment This position is located in the paint and coating department of a precision metal fabrication facility. The work environment may include exposure to powder coating materials, chemical pre-treatment agents, curing oven heat, and moderate noise.
