Large Equipment Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sandblaster to clean, prepare, and finish large equipment and machinery surfaces using high-pressure abrasive blasting techniques. The ideal candidate will have experience working with industrial sandblasting equipment and protective coatings while following safety procedures to ensure quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate sandblasting equipment to remove rust, paint, grease, and other contaminants from large equipment surfaces. Prepare surfaces for painting or coating by applying appropriate blasting techniques. Follow safety guidelines, including wearing protective gear such as respirators, gloves, and coveralls. Inspect surfaces before and after blasting to ensure quality and adherence to specifications. Maintain and clean blasting equipment, hoses, nozzles, and work areas to ensure proper operation. Handle and dispose of blasting materials and waste according to environmental regulations. Work in confined spaces, at heights, or in outdoor environments as needed. Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical specifications. Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and coating technicians to ensure project completion. Follow all company policies and OSHA safety regulations to minimize hazards. Previous experience as a sandblaster, preferably with large industrial equipment. Familiarity with different blasting media (e.g., sand, steel grit, glass beads) and their applications. Ability to operate sandblasting and pressure-washing equipment safely. Physical stamina to perform strenuous tasks, including standing for long periods and lifting heavy objects. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain quality standards. Understanding of workplace safety and hazardous material handling. High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not required). Certification in abrasive blasting or industrial coatings (a plus) Must pass a drug/alcohol test (excluding marijuana results per Washington law)
Work Environment:
Exposure to loud noise, dust, and abrasive materials. Requires wearing protective clothing, masks, and respirators. May involve working outdoors or in confined spaces under varying weather conditions. Standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting heavy equipment for extended periods.
