Job Description
Basic Qualifications Education/Training:
High school diploma. Vocational training and on-the-job experience, preferred.Experience:
A minimum of one (1) year of experience in related positions normally required. Skill(s): Demonstrated knowledge of conventional spray/plural component systems as well as basic paint, prep and blasting procedures, ability to apply seam sealer and decals and demonstrated ability working with air/hand tools.Working conditions:
Ability to stand, walk climb, bend, reach, and lift items weighing 40 lbs. or less; exposure to chemicals and loud environment; operate heavy machinery, power tools, or equipment; work at elevated heights or in confined spaces; handle hazardous, volatile, or flammable materials. General Responsibilities Painter is responsible for preparing and painting freight cars, locomotives and parts. This could include blasting, prepping, caulking, interior coating and exterior painting. This position is classified as safety sensitive. Successful candidates must comply with all company safety policies and procedures, including the company's drug- and alcohol-free workplace requirements. Individuals in this role are subject to pre-employment, random, post-incident, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing, consistent with applicable law and company policy. Violations of these policies may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Essential Duties 1. Performs a variety of duties to support the paint department.- Stays abreast of new painting, prepping and blasting procedures.
- Organizes work according to directions.
- Keeps shop and equipment orderly, clean, and safe.
