Electrical Controls Technician Contract Position St.
Louis, MO Compensation DOE:
Up to $85k
Position Overview:
Seeking an Electrical Controls Technician to support the installation, testing, validation, and startup of automated material handling systems throughout North America. This contract opportunity is ideal for a hands-on electrical or controls professional with experience installing and maintaining conveyor systems who enjoys traveling, troubleshooting, and working with cutting-edge automation technology. What You'll Do as an
Electrical Controls Technician:
As an Electrical Controls Technician, you'll work alongside Controls Engineers and electrical installation teams to ensure material handling systems are properly installed, tested, and validated before commissioning. You'll play a critical role in verifying system functionality, troubleshooting electrical and communication issues, and preparing systems for successful startup.
Electrical Controls Technician Duties Include:
Loading emulated PLC programs and performing static functional testing based on project documentation Completing I/O checkout and validating field devices and electrical components Identifying and troubleshooting issues involving PLCs, sensors, field devices, and network hardware Testing, validating, and repairing industrial communication networks including Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Profibus, AS-i, and CAN Working closely with Controls Engineers to turn over fully validated subsystems for final commissioning Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and descriptions of operation Completing model-specific validation checklists and maintaining accurate documentation Generating and maintaining action item lists based on inspections and system testing Providing daily and weekly progress reports on completed work and project status Supporting electrical installation teams during system startup and validation activities Traveling throughout the United States for customer project assignments
What We're Looking For:
2+ years of experience installing and/or maintaining conveyor or automated material handling equipment required Experience working with PLC-controlled industrial automation systems preferred Ability to read and interpret electrical prints and schematics Experience troubleshooting industrial electrical controls and communication networks Comfortable working independently and as part of a project team Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Safety-focused mindset with attention to detail Ability to travel 100% throughout the United States for extended project assignments Ability to work in various climates and industrial environments, including walking, climbing, and crawling for extended periods
