JOB SUMMARY

The Controls Automation Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving automation and control systems used in manufacturing and industrial operations. This role supports production reliability by ensuring PLCs, HMIs, sensors, drives, and associated mechanical/electrical control systems operate safely and efficiently. Safety, efficiency, and quality are also essential job responsibilities of this position.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

(not all inclusive):

• Troubleshoot and repair PLC, HMI, VFD, servo, and industrial control systems.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on automation equipment.
• Program, modify, and maintain PLC and HMI applications.
• Support manufacturing operations to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
• Diagnose electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and controls-related issues.
• Install, test, and commission new automation equipment and upgrades.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and technical documentation.
• Configure industrial networks and communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, DeviceNet, or Modbus.
• Maintain compliance with safety standards including LOTO.
• Document repairs, modifications, and maintenance activities.
• Collaborate on continuous improvement projects.

Required Qualifications:

• Associate degree or technical certification in Automation, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Systems, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in industrial automation, controls, or manufacturing maintenance.
• Experience with PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Schneider Electric.
• Strong understanding of electrical controls, motor controls, sensors, and instrumentation.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of SCADA systems and industrial networking.
• Experience with industrial safety systems and machine guarding.
• Familiarity with CMMS software.

Pay:

$42.00 - $47.06 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 60.0 per week
