JOB SUMMARY
The SCADA and Controls Technician II will provide technical support for the various technical activities within the department.:
DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain and provide technical support for the SCADA computer systems by repairing, performing maintenance, programming, and configuring these systems. Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on control and communications field equipment in substations and line devices. Provide technical support for various systems used to operate Controls equipment such as the SCADA system, field device maintenance systems, fiber optic communications, and specialized network management systems. Work in substations as needed to investigate control and communication issues. Maintain Controls equipment maintenance records, including repairs and replacements. Analyze and recommend equipment upgrades, replacements, spare stock, etc. Participate during system emergencies such as storm restoration by scouting incidents, providing field information to dispatchers, and assisting with oversight of field crews (bird-dogging). Work on special projects as assigned by supervisor. Projects may include deploying new equipment and field equipment software/firmware upgrades.
EDUCATION EXPERIENCE
Associate's Degree in a related technical field (or equivalent education and experience as determined by EPB). 4 years of related technical experience and/or training. Excellent PC skills, including Windows Operating System, Linux Operating System, and database experience. AutoCAD or similar technical drawing experience required. Working knowledge of and skills in electronic circuitry, circuit troubleshooting, and repair. Intermediate understanding of distribution high voltage electric systems, low voltage control circuits, and theory. Documented work history in a specialized, critical control and monitoring environment.
CERTIFICATIONS OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in state of residence and demonstrate safe and responsible operation of motor vehicles. Must be insurable under the company's insurance policy.:
