This position assembles electronic components, wires, printed circuit boards (PCBs), sub-assemblies, and finished products according to engineering drawings, work instructions, schematics, and established quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong hand-soldering skills, mechanical assembly experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to identify and correct defects during the assembly and rework process. Key ResponsibilitiesMechanical Assembly Perform mechanical assembly of electronic products, components, and sub-assemblies using hand tools and production equipment. Follow engineering drawings, assembly diagrams, schematics, work instructions, and bills of materials. Install, align, fasten, and secure mechanical and electronic components according to specifications. Use hand tools, torque tools, fixtures, and other assembly equipment accurately and safely. Verify components, hardware, wiring, and assemblies before completing production steps. Identify assembly issues and communicate discrepancies to supervisors or engineering personnel. Electronics Soldering Perform precision hand soldering of electronic components, wires, terminals, connectors, and PCB assemblies. Use soldering irons, solder wire, flux, and related equipment in accordance with established procedures. Prepare components for soldering by cleaning surfaces, tinning leads, and applying flux as required. Perform both through-hole and surface-mount technology (SMT) soldering when required. Produce clean, reliable solder joints that meet established workmanship and quality requirements. Identify soldering defects such as cold joints, solder bridges, insufficient solder, excess solder, lifted pads, or poor connections. Perform solder touch-up and rework to correct defects. Circuit Board Rework Perform PCB rework and repair using appropriate soldering and desoldering techniques. Remove and replace electronic components without damaging circuit boards, pads, traces, or surrounding components. Perform component replacement, wire modifications, jumper installation, and solder repairs as directed. Inspect circuit boards under magnification to identify defects and workmanship issues. Follow engineering instructions and approved rework procedures when modifying circuit boards. Maintain accurate documentation of rework and non-conforming conditions. Quality Control Visually inspect mechanical assemblies, solder joints, wiring, and circuit boards for defects. Ensure completed work meets engineering specifications, drawings, workmanship standards, and customer requirements. Perform rework or corrective actions when assemblies do not meet quality standards. Record production information, inspection results, defects, and non-conformances as required. Escalate quality concerns or recurring production issues to the appropriate supervisor or engineering team. Equipment and Workstation Properly operate and maintain soldering irons, rework stations, hand tools, test equipment, and other production equipment. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation. Ensure tools and equipment are functioning properly and report equipment problems when identified. Follow ESD controls and proper handling procedures for sensitive electronic components and assemblies. Safety and Compliance Follow all company safety procedures, manufacturing processes, and quality requirements. Follow applicable electronics assembly and soldering standards, including IPC requirements where applicable. Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a safe work environment. Handle solder, flux, chemicals, and electronic components according to established safety procedures. Teamwork and Process Improvement Work closely with technicians, engineers, quality personnel, and production supervisors to meet production schedules. Communicate production issues, component problems, and quality concerns effectively. Assist engineering and manufacturing teams with troubleshooting and process improvements. Identify opportunities to improve assembly quality, productivity, and efficiency. Adapt to changing production priorities and work assignments. Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in mechanical assembly, electronics assembly, soldering, or PCB rework preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in hand soldering and circuit board rework . Experience with through-hole and/or SMT soldering techniques.
