Job Description

Build custom-engineered switchgear that powers infrastructure nationwide Join a stable manufacturer with nearly nine decades of history Grow into training and mentoring the next generation of assemblers. Electrical Wirer - Switchgear Assembly & Testing | Addison, IL This role may also be known as: Switchgear Wirer, Panel Wirer, Electrical Assembler, Control Panel Wirer What if your wiring work was the reason a hospital, a data center, or a factory kept its power on? That's the reality of this role. Every panel you wire and test becomes part of a power distribution system that industries, facilities, and infrastructure across the U.S. depend on every day. This is a chance to join a well-established manufacturer of custom-engineered low and medium voltage electrical products and controls, an organization with nearly nine decades of history and manufacturing locations across the country. Stability comes standard here, but so does momentum. The company is known for being agile and progressive, which means the people building the equipment have a direct say in how the work gets better. If you take pride in clean terminations, love reading a schematic and seeing it come to life, and want your skills to be recognized, this is the kind of place where that happens. Why This Opportunity Is Different No two builds are exactly alike. Because the equipment is custom-engineered, you'll work across breakers, relays, transformers, busbars, and control cabinets instead of repeating the same assembly all day. You'll work shoulder to shoulder with engineers and quality control, so your input is heard and your problem-solving matters. And there's a real path to broader influence: this role helps interview and train new assemblers and takes part in continuous improvement initiatives, giving experienced wirers the chance to lead by example and shape how the line runs. What You'll Be Doing Assembling switchgear panels, control cabinets, and components from engineering drawings and specifications Wiring circuit breakers, relays, transformers, and busbars to schematic so every assembly is built right the first time Terminating and connecting cables, wires, and electrical components Running continuity and functional tests to confirm each assembly performs as designed Identifying and correcting wiring or assembly errors and troubleshooting electrical issues in switchgear systems Ensuring every build meets electrical codes, industry standards, and quality requirements Following safety protocols and PPE requirements and keeping a clean, organized, safe work area Documenting wiring changes, issues, and resolutions so the whole team benefits Keeping supervisors and project managers informed on progress and challenges Partnering with engineers, production, and quality control to hit project deadlines Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that boost production efficiency Helping interview potential candidates and training assemblers on wiring What We're Looking For High school diploma or equivalent Proven experience in electrical wiring, switchgear assembly, or related work Familiarity with electrical components including circuit breakers, relays, and power distribution units Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics Proficiency with hand and power tools such as wire strippers, crimpers, drills, and screwdrivers Basic knowledge of electrical standards and codes Strong attention to detail, good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, and effective communication and teamwork Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods Availability for occasional overtime or shift work to meet project deadlines Bonus points for a technical certification in electrical wiring, prior experience with medium or low voltage switchgear systems, or electrical safety certification Compensation & Work Model This role pays $23 to $27 per hour. This is an onsite role in a manufacturing and production environment. Location & Travel This position is based onsite in Addison, IL. How to Apply To apply or learn more, contact: Hayley.
