$32 Job Description The Panel Builder is responsible for assembling, wiring, and testing industrial electrical control panels for machinery and equipment. This role requires foundational electrical knowledge to ensure panels are built accurately, meet quality and safety standards, and are ready for seamless integration into production equipment. Responsibilities Assemble electrical control panels, enclosures, and junction boxes according to blueprints, schematics, and detailed work instructions. Perform wiring and terminations for switches, relays, fuses, circuit breakers, PLC components, and other electrical devices. Inspect wiring, connections, and components for accuracy and functionality using basic electrical testing tools such as multimeters and continuity testers. Follow all company safety policies, electrical standards, and OSHA regulations throughout panel assembly and testing activities. Assist with troubleshooting and correcting wiring issues identified during assembly or testing to ensure reliable panel operation. Support wiring and troubleshooting of various manufacturing equipment as needed. Apply a strong understanding of electrical components, wiring, and circuitry to ensure high-quality builds. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace, ensuring proper handling, storage, and use of tools and materials. Communicate progress, issues, and resource needs to the Electrical Lead or shop leadership to support production schedules and deadlines. Adhere to relevant safety standards and electrical codes, including NEC and UL standards, when assembling and wiring panels. Collaborate with other shop personnel, including fabrication staff, to coordinate panel integration with machinery and equipment. Participate in preventive maintenance and basic machine building tasks related to electrical assembly when required. Essential Skills Experience in electrical panel building or a closely related field. Experience in wiring and troubleshooting various manufacturing equipment. Strong understanding of electrical components, wiring, and circuitry. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and work instructions. Proficiency in basic electrical testing using tools such as multimeters and continuity testers. Knowledge of relevant safety standards and electrical codes, including NEC and UL standards. Hands-on skills in electrical assembly, panel building, and wiring of industrial control panels. Capability to perform electrical troubleshooting on panels and machinery. Familiarity with PLC components and PLC troubleshooting in control systems. Understanding of three-phase electrical systems and industrial electrical wiring. Ability to support preventive maintenance activities on electrical equipment. High school diploma or completion of a trade school program is preferred. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics in relation to machine building and integration. Background as a maintenance technician or in a similar maintenance-focused role. Experience with machine building and integration of electrical panels into production equipment. Ability to perform schematic and blueprint reading with attention to detail. Experience in electrical testing and troubleshooting in a production or shop environment. Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices for electrical and mechanical systems. Comfort working in a hands-on, production shop setting with industrial machinery. Trade school education in electrical, industrial maintenance, or a related discipline is a plus. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a medium-sized production facility with a shop-floor atmosphere focused on industrial machinery and equipment. You will work in a hands-on environment that involves electrical assembly, panel building, and interaction with manufacturing equipment. The position works closely with a small team, including one other welder fabricator, fostering direct collaboration and communication. The setting includes typical shop tools and electrical testing equipment such as multimeters and continuity testers. Work is performed in a structured, safety-conscious environment that follows established electrical standards and regulations, with an emphasis on organization, cleanliness, and proper handling of tools and materials. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carol Stream, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $32.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
