• Job Title: Cable Assembly Technician

• Join a growing cable assembly team focused on building high-quality medical cables from scratch in a clean, well-organized production environment.

This role works in a cable cell using a batching method, where you perform specialized tasks such as cutting, stripping, crimping, and soldering wires and then pass batches to the next station for efficient workflow. You will be cross-trained on multiple stations, alternating tasks regularly rather than staying at one station for long periods, and will follow detailed documentation and blueprints to ensure precise, reliable assemblies.

• Responsibilities
• + Build cable assemblies from scratch using established production processes and work instructions.

+ Perform wire cutting, stripping, and preparation of cable harnesses using manual methods and small machines as required at each station.

+ Execute crimping operations on cables and wires, ensuring proper connections and consistent quality.

+ Perform soldering tasks in accordance with IPC-610 and IPC-620 standards once certified or if you already hold up-to-date solder certifications.

+ Rotate between cable cell stations, including cutting, stripping, crimping, and soldering, following the batching method to process large batches of wires efficiently.

+ Complete mechanical and electronic assembly tasks as needed to support production of medical instruments.

+ Read and interpret blueprints, standard operating procedures (SOPs), travelers, and other documentation to assemble products accurately.

+ Use hand tools, including torque wrenches, and other assembly equipment safely and correctly.

+ Work with computers to access documentation, travelers, and production instructions and to record work as required.

+ Maintain high attention to detail to ensure that all cables and assemblies meet quality and regulatory requirements.

+ Follow all regulated work environment standards applicable to medical instrument assembly, including use of required PPE.

+ Participate in a thorough training program, using provided training materials and binders, and apply feedback from trainers and leadership to improve performance.

+ Adhere to policies regarding phone usage and other workplace rules while on the production floor.

+ Contribute to a safe, clean, and organized work area and support continuous improvement efforts within the cable cell.

• Essential Skills
• + Experience working with cables and wires, including cutting, stripping, crimping, and cable harness assembly.

+ Hands-on soldering experience or strong interest in learning soldering in alignment with IPC-610 and IPC-620 standards.

+ Ability to read and follow blueprints, SOPs, travelers, and other technical documentation.

+ Proficiency using hand tools such as torque wrenches and other basic assembly tools.

+ Comfort working with computers to access documentation and production instructions.

+ Strong attention to detail and ability to produce consistent, high-quality work in a regulated environment.

+ Ability to work in a fast-paced production setting while maintaining accuracy and quality.

+ Willingness to rotate across multiple stations and tasks within the cable cell.

• Additional Skills & Qualifications
• + IPC-610 and IPC-620 soldering certifications preferred but not required.

+ Prior experience in medical device or medical assembly environments is a plus.

+ Familiarity with cable harness assembly and wire stripping equipment is beneficial.

+ Comfort working from detailed build plans and production schedules.

+ Ability to receive and apply real-time feedback from trainers and leadership.

+ Interest in long-term growth and developing a career in a manufacturing or medical technology environment.

• Work Environment
• The role is based in a very clean, comfortable, and well-lit facility that produces medical instruments in a regulated, but not clean-room, environment.

The cable cell uses a batching method with both manual and small machine-assisted workstations, and employees are cross-trained across all stations. The current schedule for second shift is Monday through Friday, 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. The workspace is temperature controlled, and required PPE includes an ESD smock. Team members may wear headphones while working, but phone usage on the floor is strictly limited. The dress code allows jeans and a collared shirt, contributing to a relaxed yet professional atmosphere.

• Pay and Benefits
• The pay range for this position is $21.

00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
