We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Technician / Automation Equipment Builder to support the assembly, integration, and debugging of custom automated machinery. This role requires strong hands-on experience building precision equipment from prints, along with the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and basic controls issues during machine build and startup. This is not an assembly line role—candidates must have experience with complex equipment builds and strong problem-solving abilities. Key Responsibilities Build and assemble custom automation equipment from mechanical prints, including linear rails, gearboxes, and precision-aligned components Install, configure, and troubleshoot pneumatic systems (air cylinders, valves, regulators) Diagnose and resolve mechanical and basic controls issues during machine assembly and debugging Support integration and setup of motion systems, including servo motors and drives Interpret mechanical blueprints and electrical schematics to ensure accurate builds Utilize diagnostic tools such as multimeters and precision measurement tools to validate system performance Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, machinist squares, and levels Collaborate with engineering and controls teams during machine build, testing, and commissioning Required Qualifications Proven experience assembling complex automation equipment (not assembly line production) Strong mechanical assembly skills with experience building from prints Hands-on experience with pneumatic systems installation and troubleshooting Familiarity with motion systems, including servo motors and automated equipment Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics Proficiency using hand tools, multimeters, and precision measurement instruments Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills with the ability to diagnose issues logically and independently Preferred Qualifications Experience with electrical wiring of machines and control panels (motors, sensors, safety circuits) Exposure to industrial robotics or automated manufacturing cells Background combining both mechanical and electrical troubleshooting Key Traits for Success Strong problem-solving and "think-on-your-feet" mindset Ability to troubleshoot issues methodically and efficiently High attention to detail and precision in mechanical assembly Comfortable working in a fast-paced, build-and-debug environment #
