Job Title:
Mechanical Assembler Job Description We are seeking skilled mechanical assemblers for the engine line who possess experience with hand tools, power tools, impact tools, torque tools, and gauges. While experience with blueprints is not mandatory, it is advantageous. Candidates with experience in manufacturing, automotive mechanics, or construction are highly desirable. The role may involve prepping certain parts for painting as needed. Responsibilities Perform assembly and pre-paint wash/prep, masking, sanding, and painting. Repair and operate specialized engine testing equipment. Troubleshoot, repair, and train others as needed. Assist in other departments when required. Assemble and test parts and components for locomotive engines and alternators. Fasten sub-assembly parts using bolts, screws, and other fasteners. Route and apply electrical wiring harnesses. Route and install hydraulic fluid, fuel lines, and electrical wiring harnesses. Fill engines with fuel, coolant, and hydraulic oils and prep them for Test Cell. Operate engine test cell equipment and perform pressure decay tests. Diagnose malfunctions and perform adjustments or repairs to meet quality standards. Conduct preventive maintenance on machines, checking oil levels, air pressures, and air filters. Troubleshoot assembly problems, part quality issues, and test results. Move units in and out of paint booths and power wash units for paint. Check for leaks and maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area. Follow verbal or written work instructions, standards, and quality work instructions accurately and safely. Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs, and push and pull up to 50 lbs. Essential Skills Experience with assembly, hand tools, power tools, and torque tools. Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and perform basic math. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and welding processes. Capability to diagnose and troubleshoot assembly problems and part quality issues. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with blueprint reading and schematic understanding. Experience in operating engine test cell equipment. Ability to perform minimal maintenance to correct issues. Experience in a manufacturing setting or related field. Why Work Here? Training will occur on the first shift for one month, followed by work on the 2nd shift from 3 PM to 11:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Winston-Salem, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
