Job Description

Are you looking to continue your career supporting the world's finest Navy? Amentum may have the position you are looking for. We have an immediate opening for a Diesel Engine Inspector to support our Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) customer in Norfolk, VA.
Essential Responsibilities:
Provide technical assistance, assessments, inspection, troubleshooting, corrective actions, adjustments/repairs, and grooms on Naval Surface ships' diesel engines Observe and/or conduct cold and hot checks of equipment, note condition and parameters for any out-of-specification readings or settings Observe the operation of the equipment by the ship's force to witness the full range of performance Use appropriate measuring/test equipment to obtain data for evaluation Provide written visit debrief and reports Attend conferences and meetings as required Provide on-the-job training to the ship's force during shipboard evolutions Interpret wiring diagrams and control schematics
Minimum Requirements:
Desired minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the operation, repair, maintenance, and assessment of U.S Navy diesel engines Diesel engine inspections, MPDE, SSDG, EDG associated support systems to include lube oil, fuel oil sea water, engine jacket water, engine control systems (electronic/pneumatic) and Vibration, Performance and Failure Analysis. Two (2) years of experience in availability planning, modernization, repair, and testing of shipboard equipment and systems. Must have a current certification as a US Navy Fleet DEI, hold Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC) 4314, and have a desired minimum of four (4) years of experience as a certified DEI in accordance with
OPNAVINST 9220.3
Recent (within 24 months) hands-on experience with the respective equipment to support Knowledge of engine performance analysis, repairs, machinery vibration, and failure analysis Knowledge of interpreting, reviewing, and applying engine work specifications, engine maintenance standards/practices, repair procedures, and technical documentation. Have familiarity with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Service either through experience and/or equivalent OEM Factory/Navy training certificates/NEC Must have an active secret US government clearance.
Note:
US citizenship is required to maintain a secret clearance Service Contract Act (SCA)
Compensation & Benefits:
This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.
Compensation Details:
$35.00 - 40.00 The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good-faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
