Our client is a sixth-generation Minnesota company with a history dating back to 1867. Based in Loretto, the company operates metal fabrication and machine shops and specializes in municipal castings, custom-fabricated products, railings, structural components, and other metal products.Job Summary:
We are seeking a dependable and mechanically inclined Fabrication Shop Assistant to join a metal fabrication team in Loretto, MN. This position will assist with daily fabrication operations, including measuring, cutting, grinding, deburring, and preparing metal parts. The ideal candidate has basic mechanical skills, is comfortable working with a variety of shop tools and equipment, and has some knowledge of blueprints. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills and build a career in metal fabrication.Key Responsibilities:
Assist with daily operations in the fabrication shop. Measure and prepare metal parts according to job specifications. Operate metal cutting equipment, grinders, band saws, and other shop equipment. Deburr and finish metal parts after cutting or fabrication. Use hand and power tools safely and effectively. Assist experienced fabricators with production and fabrication projects. Read and follow basic blueprints, measurements, and work instructions. Inspect completed work for accuracy and quality. Move and organize materials, parts, and supplies throughout the shop. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area. Follow all company and industry safety procedures. Assist with additional fabrication and shop responsibilities as needed.Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred. Basic mechanical skills and mechanical aptitude required. Experience using hand tools, power tools, or fabrication equipment preferred. Basic knowledge of blueprints preferred. Ability to accurately use basic measuring tools. Willingness to learn new fabrication processes and equipment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic. Ability to follow instructions and work safely around industrial equipment. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to stand and move throughout the workday. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to frequently bend, reach, lift, and perform repetitive movements.Working Conditions:
Metal fabrication and manufacturing shop environment. Regular use of metal cutting equipment, grinders, band saws, hand tools, and other fabrication equipment. Exposure to typical manufacturing conditions, including machinery, metal materials, noise, and moving equipment. Frequent standing, walking, and material handling throughout the workday. Overtime may be required based on production needs. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn as required. Must consistently follow established shop and industry safety practices.About Vision:
