Our client is a privately held, family-owned sheet metal fabrication company producing high-quality custom metal products for a variety of industries. Their modern manufacturing facility combines advanced fabrication technology with skilled craftsmanship while maintaining a culture focused on teamwork, integrity, quality, and continuous improvement.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated Metal Finisher to join a growing fabrication team in Rogers, MN. This hands-on position is responsible for grinding, sanding, polishing, and finishing fabricated metal components to meet customer specifications and cosmetic quality standards. Previous sheet metal finishing or grinding experience is preferred; however, candidates with a strong work ethic, good attendance history, positive attitude, and a genuine interest in building a career in a shop environment are encouraged to apply. The client is willing to train the right candidate. This position offers plenty of overtime opportunities and is available to start ASAP.
Key Responsibilities:
Grind, sand, polish, and finish fabricated metal components. Operate polishing wheels, sanding equipment, buffing wheels, straight-line machines, and other finishing tools. Perform cosmetic finishing on stainless steel, aluminum, cold steel, and other metals. Read and follow blueprints, layouts, job packets, and work instructions to determine finishing requirements. Set up finishing equipment with the appropriate tooling for each job. Inspect finished components for cosmetic quality and conformance to customer specifications. Identify quality concerns or discrepancies and communicate them to the appropriate supervisor or lead. Assist with marking documentation and identifying potential production improvements. Maintain accurate material counts and keep parts and materials organized. Identify unsafe conditions or inefficient processes and communicate opportunities for improvement. Accurately record labor and production activity using the Epicor time-tracking system. Assist other production departments as needed. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Follow all company safety, quality, and production procedures.
Qualifications:
Previous sheet metal finishing, grinding, sanding, polishing, or fabrication experience preferred but not required. Candidates without direct experience may be considered and trained based on attitude, attendance, reliability, and willingness to learn. Manufacturing or shop experience preferred. High school diploma or GED preferred. Mechanical aptitude and an interest in learning metal fabrication processes. Blueprint, layout, drawing, or job packet reading experience preferred. Experience working with stainless steel, aluminum, cold steel, or similar metals is a plus. Ability to safely learn and operate grinding and finishing equipment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. Dependable with a strong attendance record. Positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow within a shop environment. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Safety-conscious with a continuous improvement mindset. Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive hand movements throughout the workday. Ability to regularly lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally handle heavier materials as required.
Working Conditions:
Sheet metal fabrication environment with exposure to grinding equipment, machinery, metal dust, and moderate to high noise levels. Hands-on, physically active work involving metal components and finishing equipment. Overtime opportunities are regularly available based on production needs. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and other required safety equipment, must be worn. Must consistently follow established shop and equipment safety procedures.
