A Food or Agricultural Technician assists agricultural and food scientists with research and testing related to safety and quality control. May focus on testing and lab analysis for animal crops and animal feed, or focus on testing and lab analysis for food, food crops, processed food, food additives and food containers.
We are a leading food manufacturer seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in both mechanical and electrical maintenance, with expertise in variable frequency drives (VFDs), pumps, valves, welding, and high-voltage electrical systems. Qualified candidates must have experience in sanitary stainless-steel welding and a background in food manufacturing environments. This position is essential for maintaining the continuous operation of production equipment through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and timely repairs. []
Key Responsibilities:
Preventative Maintenance:
Perform routine preventative maintenance on production equipment to optimize performance and reduce downtime.
Equipment Monitoring:
Monitor machinery and make adjustments as needed to ensure safe, efficient operation.
Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and PLC-related issues, including 3-phase 480V electrical systems.
Welding & Fabrication:
Perform welding and metal fabrication, including sanitary stainless-steel welding for food-grade applications.
Pump & Valve Maintenance:
Inspect, maintain, and repair pumps and valves.
Conveyor Repairs:
Repair and fabricate conveyor systems and component parts.
VFD & PLC
Systems:
Use knowledge of VFDs and PLCs to troubleshoot drive and control systems.
Physical Work:
Perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and working in various environmental conditions.
Safety & Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols and company maintenance policies. []
Requirements:
Sanitary Welding Experience:
Must have hands-on experience with sanitary stainless-steel welding in a food manufacturing setting.
Experience:
5+ years of experience in welding, metal fabrication, or completion of a 2-year technical program.
Mechanical & Electrical:
Strong mechanical and electrical skills, including experience with 3-phase 480V systems.
VFD Knowledge:
Proficiency with Variable Frequency Drives is required.
PLC Understanding:
Familiarity with PLC systems is a plus.
Pump/Valve Maintenance:
Background in maintaining and repairing pumps and valves.
Preventative Maintenance:
Proactive mindset with strong focus on preventative measures.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift, bend, and work in a range of facility conditions.
Electrical Skills:
High-voltage experience and familiarity with 4-phase systems is highly desirable. []
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical training or certification in maintenance, electrical, or mechanical systems. Experience working in sanitary food manufacturing environments. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team. []
