WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Custom Application Equipment Operator, you'll be responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely application of fertilizer and crop protection products on customer fields.
Your day-to-day will include:
Apply fertilizer and/or chemicals accurately according to blend sheet specifications — getting it right matters Maintain and repair equipment on schedule, keeping machinery in top operating condition Coordinate with managers and sales staff to ensure applications are completed safely, efficiently, and on time Interact with customers in a professional, courteous manner — you're often the face of The DeLong Co. in the field Supervise drivers during product transfer operations Follow all safety rules, regulations, and PPE requirements without exception Take genuine ownership of your equipment and the quality of your work Support sales efforts with new and existing customers when opportunities arise Pitch in across operations and production as needed — we're a team Requirements
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required:
Agricultural background and familiarity with crop production practices Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy — blend specs matter Clean driving record Safety-first mindset with knowledge of or willingness to learn PPE and chemical handling requirements Mechanical aptitude — comfortable performing routine equipment maintenance and minor repairs Good communication skills for coordinating with managers, sales staff, and customers Ability to work 40-50 hours per week, with longer hours during peak application seasons Ability to lift up to 75 lbs Must pass a pre-employment drug screen Preferred (we'll help you get there if you don't have them yet): CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsement — we will assist you in obtaining this Commercial Applicator's License — we will provide training to earn this Prior chemical application experience or related education
