In this position, you'll be responsible for restoring returned furniture, décor, and home goods to Nickson's quality standards. Your primary focus will be repairing cosmetic and minor structural damage, refinishing surfaces, replacing hardware, and bringing inventory back to a clean, customer-ready condition. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone who enjoys woodworking, furniture repair, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. Every day you'll evaluate returned inventory, determine the best repair approach, and restore pieces so they look and function like new before being installed in customers' homes. What You'll Do Furniture Restoration & Refinishing Inspect returned furniture and décor to assess damage and determine repair methods Repair scratches, dents, chips, gouges, and other cosmetic damage Sand, stain, paint, touch up, and refinish wood and composite furniture surfaces Repair or replace hardware including handles, knobs, hinges, drawer slides, and legs Perform minor structural repairs to improve the safety and usability of furniture Restore upholstered furniture through spot cleaning, fabric repair, cushion replacement, and minor upholstery work when applicable Ensure all restored inventory meets Nickson's appearance and quality standards before returning to inventory Inventory Processing & Quality Control Clean and sanitize furniture and home goods following company procedures Photograph and document repairs within Nickson's inventory management system Accurately track repair status and completed work Identify inventory that should be repaired versus retired from service Organize completed inventory for storage and future installations Maintain quality consistency across all restored inventory Warehouse Operations Safely operate hand tools, power tools, sanders, sprayers, and other refinishing equipment Assist with loading and unloading trucks as instructed Lift and move furniture and home goods throughout the warehouse daily Sort and organize inventory on racks, shelves, and designated storage areas Assist with receiving shipments and scanning incoming inventory Support warehouse cleanliness by sweeping, mopping, organizing, and maintaining work areas Who You Are Takes pride in craftsmanship and producing high-quality work Highly detail-oriented with an excellent eye for cosmetic imperfections Enjoys solving problems and finding creative repair solutions Patient and methodical with strong attention to detail Comfortable working independently while managing multiple repair projects Organized and committed to maintaining a clean workspace Positive, dependable, and team-oriented Comfortable following written and verbal instructions in English or Spanish Qualifications Ideal candidates will have: 2+ years of experience in furniture repair, woodworking, cabinet finishing, furniture restoration, millwork, upholstery, auto body repair, or a related trade Experience sanding, staining, painting, refinishing, or repairing furniture Experience using woodworking and finishing tools safely Knowledge of wood fillers, stains, paints, adhesives, and finishing materials Strong understanding of furniture construction and repair techniques Ability to identify repair methods that maximize quality while minimizing repair time Ability to consistently lift up to 100 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation Ability to work in varying warehouse temperatures and weather conditions Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent results Basic computer skills for documenting repairs preferred Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus High school diploma or equivalent preferred
