Grinder/Body Tech M-F 5:00 AM-1:30 PM +OT | Full-Time | Phoenix, AZ $19-$23/hour DOE Company Overview We are a Phoenix-based work truck upfitter specializing in custom commercial trucks for contractors, utility companies, government agencies, fleets, and small businesses throughout Arizona and Nevada. Our work includes service bodies, flatbeds, trailers, specialty equipment, lighting, and other custom truck equipment. We have been building durable work trucks locally for over 30 years. Position Summary We are looking for a dependable Grinder/Body Tech to help get our fabricated truck bodies and components ready for paint and final assembly. This is a hands-on shop position involving grinding welds, sanding, Bondo/body filler, seam caulking, surface finishing, and paint prep . You'll work on service bodies and other fabricated work-truck equipment, cleaning up rough welds, sharp edges, dents, and surface imperfections to make sure each piece has a smooth, clean finish before it reaches the paint booth. Key Responsibilities Grind and smooth welds on fabricated truck bodies and components Use angle grinders, sanders, and other hand and power tools Remove weld spatter, sharp edges, rough spots, and other surface imperfections Apply Bondo/body filler and sand surfaces smooth Caulk seams and joints Prep service bodies and other work-truck equipment for primer and paint Sand and finish metal surfaces to achieve a clean, consistent finish Perform final surface prep and wipe-down before parts enter the paint booth Inspect your work and correct areas that need additional finishing Work closely with welders, fabricators, and painters to keep jobs moving through the shop Keep tools and work areas clean and organized Follow shop safety procedures and wear required PPE These duties reflect the grinding, sanding, seam caulking, Bondo, surface prep, and production-support work listed in the current description. Qualifications 1+ year of experience in metal finishing, automotive body work, fabrication, manufacturing, grinding, or a similar shop environment preferred Experience using grinders, sanders, and basic hand and power tools Experience with Bondo/body filler and surface preparation is a plus Comfortable working around welded and fabricated metal components Ability to follow basic shop drawings and work instructions Good attention to detail and finished quality Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work on your feet for extended periods Dependable, punctual, and able to work well with a production team
