Position Overview 2nd Shift (3:30pm to Midnight) Balance Operator. Responsible for ensuring proper processes and operations are completed to balance rotors and assemble all components required for the manufacturing of a rotor for three phase electric motors. This position is in a collective bargaining Union. Must become a member of the local collective bargaining unit upon hire. Must be willing to train on first shift until fully qualified. Ability to calculate balancing tolerance at each balancing plane in accordance to API-541 or
ISO 1940
standards. Efficiently perform all duties relative to balancing rotors, fans, armatures, sheave assemblies, impellers, thrust blocks, etc. Operate the balance machine and related equipment. The Balance Operator produces critical parts for the Large Motor product line and reports directly to the Production Supervisor Ensure that all projects are completed safely, correctly and meet or surpass all customer expectations. Follow and promote all safety and quality directives in support of the company's commitment to be the industry's premier service provider to our clients. Responsibilities Operate Balance machines. Set up balance machine; locate unbalance. Balance by either adding or removing metal. Record all required information to tollgate Recognize improper machine and tool performance. Unit weigh, cut drill, and tap individual balance weights. Affix weights with retaining compound, locking tabs or peening based on individual requirements. Oil machine. Monitor bearing wear. Work with engineers and test to improve balance performance. Perform residual unbalance, two and three-plane balance, slow roll test, and trim balance. Accurately perform measurements and document items related to amplitude and phase angle and descriptions of characteristics. Generate and maintain all necessary balance reports. Visually inspect and accept or reject parts for defects, cracks, and improper machine or assembly techniques. Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience High School diploma or equivalent Must have the physical ability to perform work required Must be able to read and understand all drawings and Bill of Materials related to balancing operations including shaft and finished rotor drawings Ability to read a tape measure, calipers, and micrometers Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience Experience working with large rotating equipment Experience working in a manufacturing environment requiring machining and measuring of large products The pay rate for this position is $31.36. The shift differential for working second shift is $1.00. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
