Job Description

Tired of the same old workplace? Small but growing custom tooling shop in Twinsburg, Ohio, is seeking to immediately fill a slot in our team of dedicated and skilled tool & die makers. Company is widely considered the highest-quality manufacturer in our niche market, and consistently receives recommendations from experts in the industry. We have been making our products for more than 50 years, but are under family ownership in a new location. Our shop is clean and reasonably quiet, air-conditioned, easily accessible from Cleveland or Akron. This position could be day shift or evening shift, depending on the situation of the employee. As a small company, employees are expected to wear a lot of hats and may be called upon to perform varied duties, but the primary emphasis of this position is the bench work involved in the fitting and polishing of our custom-made tooling. Specifically, we are looking for a benchman/polisher who is capable of working with his/her hands and various powered tools to custom-fit our tooling to meet customer requirements. This is a skilled position, but we are willing to provide training to the right individual with a strong track record of quality hand work and an interest in learning. This individual must be able to:
  • -Use powered and manual hand tools to change tooling geometry as required for proper fit and polish of our dies
  • -Use polishing stones and sandpaper by hand to polish and blend to a near-mirror surface finish (probably 50-80% of an average day)
  • -Assemble and disassemble tooling as required to facilitate the other operations
  • -Perform inspections of tooling as required and document results
  • -Work with minimal supervision
  • -Read basic information from blueprints and work with engineering on design and manufacturing requirements
  • -Measure with standard gages such as radius gages and calipers and be able to learn use of nonstandard/custom gages
  • -Work in conjunction with our other machinists to prevent and/or fix issues required to produce our high-quality tooling
  • -Drive a forklift and/or operate an overhead crane to transfer material
  • -Pack materials for shipment to vendors or customers This position requires significant manual labor, so physically being able to handle the demands of the hand polishing work is of critical importance.
We are a job shop, so there is an opportunity to do other types of tasks during the day, but count on doing some level of manual polishing each and every day. Bear in mind that we are not just looking for a body to occupy space. We are hunting for someone who can be an integral member of the team, helping us to continue our industry-leading traditions by proactively spotting problems and working to prevent them, dealing with issues on the fly, and suggesting ways in which our company can continuously improve. This position is also open to crosstraining in the future to allow the employee even more variety in his/her work responsibilities. We offer a competitive wage and outstanding benefit package, including medical and dental insurance, a 401k plan with company contribution, life/AD&D and disability insurance, paid holidays & vacation. To be considered for this position, please forward a copy of your resume or work history.
