Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and experienced Press Forming & Tool Room Operator to handle sheet metal press operations and tool room activities. The candidate will be responsible for press setup, die installation, forming operations, tool maintenance, and quality inspection while ensuring adherence to production targets, safety standards, and quality requirements. Key Responsibilities Press Forming Operations Set up and operate mechanical and hydraulic press machines. Install, align, and secure dies and press tools accurately. Adjust machine parameters such as tonnage, stroke length, and speed based on job requirements. Perform sheet metal forming operations as per technical drawings and specifications. Conduct first-piece and in-process inspections to ensure quality compliance. Monitor production output and minimize rejection and material wastage. Maintain daily production logs and machine check sheets. Tool Room Operations Manufacture, assemble, repair, and maintain press tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures. Perform bench fitting, tool assembly, and precision alignment. Operate tool room machines such as lathe, milling, surface grinding, drilling, and other conventional machines. Troubleshoot and repair damaged dies and tools to minimize downtime. Support production during tool trials, adjustments, and improvements. Maintain tool maintenance records and preventive maintenance schedules. Quality & Inspection Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications. Use measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and dial gauges. Ensure components meet dimensional and quality standards. Identify and report defects and implement corrective actions. Maintenance & TPM Perform preventive maintenance activities as per TPM guidelines. Maintain machine check sheets and tool maintenance documentation. Report equipment malfunctions or tool damage in a timely manner. Safety & Compliance Follow all company safety policies and operational procedures. Use required PPE and ensure machine safety guards are in place. Maintain a clean and organized work environment (5S standards). Required Qualifications & Skills ITI / Diploma in Tool & Die Making / Mechanical Engineering or related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in press forming and tool room operations. Strong knowledge of die setting, alignment, and sheet metal forming processes. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T. Experience handling precision measuring instruments. Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Skills Experience with progressive dies and compound tools. Knowledge of basic CNC machining (added advantage). Exposure to lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
