Grinding Equipment Operator /

Casting Grinder Pay Rate:

$21.24 / hour

Position Type:

Full-Time Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Grinding Equipment Operator to inspect raw castings and remove cosmetic surface defects prior to machining operations. In this role, you will operate hand tools, power tools, and specialized grinding machinery to ensure all finished metal components meet strict quality assurance standards before entering downstream manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities Visual Inspection:

Inspect incoming raw castings for surface imperfections, cracks, and cosmetic defects prior to grinding and machining.

Defect Removal & Surface Prep:

Safely operate pneumatic, electric, and manual grinding equipment to produce smooth, defect-free finishes on castings according to quality specifications.

Quality Escalation:

Alert department supervisors immediately upon discovering significant or recurring casting defects so process corrections can be made.

Equipment & Tool Maintenance:

Maintain hand tools, grinding wheels, patterns, and primary machinery in clean, optimal working condition.

Material Handling:

Safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and semi-automated material handling equipment to transport heavy castings across workstations.

Safety & PPE Compliance:

Perform all duties wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintain compliance with site safety protocols.

Qualifications & Requirements Education & Experience:

High School Diploma or GED required, or an equivalent combination of relevant industrial work experience.

Tool & Machinery Operation:

Demonstrated ability to safely operate hand tools, power grinders, overhead cranes, and material handling equipment.

Quality Focus:

Strong attention to detail and visual acuity to spot surface flaws before parts enter the machining area.

Schedule Flexibility:

Willingness to work overtime and participate in ongoing safety training and technical education as required. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience working in a metal foundry, grinding shop, or heavy manufacturing environment.
